Surface Finishes for cnc machining parts

The target market of our brand has been continuously developed over the years. Now, we want to expand the international market and confidently push our brand to the world.

As turning machined
Our standard CNC turning surface roughness: Aluminum and plastic parts can get Ra0.8-1.6 um, Brass, stainless steel, steel and titanium alloy parts can get Ra1.6-3.2um.If you have higher inquiry in some place, We can do Ra0.4um perfect surface by use diamond blade.
As milling machined
Our standard CNC milling surface roughness: Aluminum and plastic parts can get Ra1.6 um, Brass, stainless steel, steel and titanium alloy parts can get Ra1.6-3.2um. If you have higher inquiry. need add other process to get better surface.
Polishing / Mirror polishing (Ra0.8um / Ra32uinch)
In order to obtain a bright and flat surface, usually use mechanical polishing and electro-polishing to reduce the surface roughness of a workpiece. Polishing can not improve the dimensional or geometric accuracy of the workpiece, but can get a smooth surface or mirror gloss surface.
Grinding / Lapping(Ra0.025-0.63um / Ra1.0-25uinch)
For metal and plastic parts, we use grinding / lapping to get perfect surface and precision dimension. It is suitable for flat surfaces, inner holes, outer cylindrical surfaces, and conical surfaces. The machining accuracy can reach IT5~01, and the surface roughness can reach Ra0.025-0.63um
Sandblasted (Bead blasted)
In order to reduce machining marks and get good surface, Parts can be sandblasted or bead blasted with 80#,100#,120#,150#,180# glass beads as inquirement.
Brushed
In order to reduce machining marks and get consistent beautiful surface, Parts can be brushed with 320#,480#,600# grit sandpaper as inquirement.
Anodized (MIL-A-8625 type I and type II)
Usually anodized thickness is from 5um to 15um. Can be anodized clear / natural, color, black, Also do sand blast, brush, polish before anodizing as inquirement. Hardness is HV250--350.
Hard anodized (MIL-A-8625 type III )
Hard anodized thickness is from 35um to 70um. It can enhance wear resistance and corrosion resistance of aluminum parts. Hardness is HV350--550.
Electroplated
CNC steel and brass parts are usually done by electroplated to prevent rust and corrosion. Include zinc plated, black zinc plated, nickel plated, chrome plated, gold plated, silver plated, etc.
PVD coating
CNC stainless steel and brass copper parts can be done by PVD coating to get best quality surface than electroplating. Also add polish process before PVD coating to remove machining marks and let parts glossy or matte gloss beautiful surface.
Powder coating
Powder coating is suitable for all metal parts. Glossy or matte gloss surface are available as inquirement. Powder coating is achieved by using compressed air to disperse powder into mist particles and absorbing them onto the metal surface under high-pressure electrostatic action. Coating thickness is usually 0.05-0.1mm. For some precision dimensions, We need avoid coating or machining after coating.
Teflon Coating(PTFE coating)
Teflon coating can greatly enhance the heat and chemical resistance of products, also providing excellent insulation stability and self-lubrication. It is used in many industries such as molds, food, medical equipment, automobiles, sensors, etc.
Electroplated nickel plating/ chemical nickel plating
Electroless nickel plating is the process of immersing a workpiece in a solution containing nickel ions, and then through a chemical reaction, the nickel ions are reduced to metallic nickel, which is deposited on the metal surface to form a uniform, dense, and corrosion-resistant nickel alloy layer. It is widely used in fields such as automobiles, aviation, aerospace, electronics, and machinery, etc. Chemical nickel plating: The coating is more uniform and dense, with better corrosion resistance than electroplated nickel, and is not limited by the shape of the workpiece, Electroplating nickel: Protective and decorative coating, relatively lacking uniformity, with some inner holes and grooves unevenly plated, is limited by the shape of the workpiece
Black oxide / Burnish / blackening
Blackening or black oxide, burnish is a common method of chemical surface treatment, which produce an oxide film on the steel part surface to achieve rust prevention. It is used on not high requirement of surface finishes. The quality of blackening mainly depends on the quality of rust and oil removal, as well as the passivation and oil immersion process after blackening
Passivation / SurTec 650 / Plating chemical film / Chromate Conversion Coating
Passivation and SurTec 650 is the process of producing a protective passivation film to protect metal surfaces, thereby enhancing their oxidation and corrosion resistance. Passivation is usually used on stainless steel CNC parts and brass CNC parts. SurTec 650 us used for aluminum CNC parts. Plating chemical film is the process of Chrome nitrate coating on aluminum parts. Natural and yellow are available.
Electropolishing
Electropolish is a surface brightening treatment for stainless steel parts. Stainless steel parts is used as the anode and insoluble metal is used as the cathode. The two electrodes are putted in the electrolytic tank and subjected to direct current to produce selective anodic dissolution. The surface of the workpiece is gradually leveled, a passivation layer will be formed on the surface, removing burrs, improving the corrosion resistance and fingerprint resistance of stainless steel parts, and increasing brightness. Make the stainless steel parts more beautiful.
Phosphating
Phosphating is a surface treatment process that involves the chemical conversion of a metal surface to form a protective phosphate coating. This process is commonly applied to enhance the corrosion resistance, hardness, and lubricity of metal components.
Paint Fill
Paint fill enhances engraved surfaces by applying paint or enamel for a visually appealing appearance. Steps include surface preparation, paint selection, application, curing, and quality inspection. Widely used in industrial marking and personalized products, it improves visibility, allows customization, and adds durability.
